Metropsis psychophysical vision test suite
The Metropsis vision testing suite is a new approach to scientific vision
testing. It brings precise and repeatable
measurements of visual function out of the psychophysical laboratory
and into more general research applications. Although primarily
intended for use in clinical and applied research, Metropsis is ideal
for any
application where accurate measures of visual function are required.
Flexible
Metropsis is supplied with your choice of one or more of the following
tests:
Easy to use
The Tests provide turn-key solutions to common measures of visual function
and are both easy to configure and easy to use. The Tests require
no programming or specialist computer skills: the simple and intuitive
interfaces can be quickly learnt, but are still sufficiently
flexible for most research requirements.
Proven and precise
Metropsis uses a wide dynamic range computer controlled graphics display
to present the Tests, which offers far greater control than traditional
charts can provide. It uses the same technology as our high-end visual
stimulator systems. All the Tests use the supplied DVP-14 digital video
processor for stimulus display. This incorporates unique dynamic range
enhancement technology; first introduced with the Bits++ system, which
delivers true 14 bit video for each colour and provides the fidelity
to accurately reproduce any visual stimulus. The supplied calibration
device ensures that luminance and chromaticity is precisely controlled
from one use to another. The psychophysical procedures used are the same
as those in our VSG software, which is used in hundreds vision science
laboratories all over the world.
Affordable
As Metropsis is based upon standard PC technology, the system is very
affordable. The entry-level package includes everything needed
to start testing with your desktop PC (see What's
not included?).
All you need to add is a CRT monitor
to display the test stimulus.
