OptiCAL photometer

The OptiCAL photometer is designed specifically for gamma correction. It interfaces with the vsgDesktop display calibration software and takes photometric measurements from display devices like computer monitors, projectors and LCD flat panels.

When used with a Visual Stimulus Generator like the ViSaGe, the OptiCAL system automatically:

• Measures all the necessary photometric values for each phosphor
• Calculates the transfer function
• Produces individual RGB gamma correction look-up tables

The gamma correction look-up tables are loaded onto the ViSaGe at the same time as the video timing configuration for the display. The entire correction process is transparent to the user.

Since the transfer function can change over time, the calibration software additionally includes a verification option that will quickly check the validity of the current correction data.
