ISCEV - International Society of Clinical Electrophysiology of Vision

PICS - Progress in Colour Studies
Glasgow, Scotland - 14th - 17th July

PICS 08

Progress in Colour Studies Conference will be held in July at the University of Glasgow.

The Department of English Language and Psychology at the University of Glasgow will hold a conference on colour in 2008 from Monday 14 July until Thursday 17 July 2008 at the University of Glasgow, Scotland,

The aim of PICS08 is to provide a multidisciplinary forum for discussion of recent and ongoing research, presented so as to be accessible to scholars in other disciplines. They welcome proposals for papers from any area of interest, for example vision science, psychology, linguistics, anthropology, archaeology, biology, philosophy, cartography, art history, etc.

APCV - Asia Pacific Conference on Vision
Brisbane, Australia - 18th - 21st July

 

The newly named Asia Pacific Conference on Vision will be held in Brisbane, Australia on the 18th-21st July.

The Asia Pacific Conference on Vision (APCV) was formerly known as the Asian Conference on Vision.

Following the 2006 meeting, held in Matsue Japan, the organizing commitee decided on a name change to better reflect the growing community of researchers attending the conference.

The conference aims to facilitate debate concerning vision research throughout the Asia-Pacific by bringing together scientists from the broad range of disciplines contributing to modern vision science, including visual psychophysics, neuroscience, computational vision and cognitive psychology.

Lectures and Symposia come from Professors Mandyam Srinivasan, Shinsuke Shimojo and Hidehiko Komatsu, Atsushi Iriki, Ken Nakayama, Gill Rhodes, Jason Mattingley, Mike Dixon, Roger Remmington and Mel Goodale. Prof

ECVP - European Conference on Visual Perception
Utrecht, The Netherlands - 24th - 28th August

 

 

Cambridge Research Systems are proud to be supporting the 31st edition of the European Conference on Visual Perception held from the 24th until the 28th of August 2008 in Utrecht.

Scientifically, ECVP deals with Vision Science, an interdisciplinary domain formed by neuroscientists, biologists, experimental psychologists, physicists, medical doctors and engineers studying the neural and cognitive mechanisms of vision, as well as their connections with the other sensory modalities. The knowledge arising from vision science is traditionally applied to the domains of human factors, artificial vision, neurology and neuropsychology and the visual arts.

The annual Perception Lecture will be given by Prof. Dr. I. Howard and the 2008 Rank Lecture will be given by Prof. Dr. J. Koenderink.

ECNS and ISNIP Joint Conference
Germany, 10th - 13th September

Cambridge Research Systems are proud sponsors of the 11th International Congress of the International Society for Neuroimaging in Psychiatry, which will be held in Frankfurt, Germany during September 10 - 13, 2008.

Similar to the last few successfull meetings the ISNIP will again jointly organize this meeting with the EEG and Clinical Neuroscience Society (ECNS).This year the conference main theme will  be: "Impact of Neuroimaging in Psychiatry and Cognitive Neuroscience: Present State and Future Directions"

EMVP - The 4th European Meeting in Visual & Physiological Optics

Greece, 31st August - 2nd September

Cambridge Research Systems are proud to sponsor the 4th European Meeting in Visual & Physiological Optics. It will take place at the conference centre of Atlantis Hotel in Heraklion, Crete - Greece, from the 31st of August until the 2nd of September, 2008.

The Institute of Vision and Optics ( IVO ) at University of Crete, Greece, is pleased to announce the organisation of the 4th European Meeting in Visual & Physiological Optics(August 31 - September 2, 2008). The meeting plans to build upon the very successful predecessors in Wroclaw (1999), Granada (2003) and most recently London (2005). Many aspects of Physiological and Visual Optics, including clinical studies, basic research and instrumentation will be covered with an emphasis on:

  • Refraction and ocular aberrations,
  • Crystalline lens and accommodation,
  • Scattering in the eye,
  • Retinal image quality,
  • Adaptive optics in the eye,
  • Advances in spectacle, contact lens and intraocular lens designs.

OSA FVM - Fall Vision Meeting
New York, USA - 24th - 26th October

 

The OSA Fall Vision Meeting will be held in Rochester, New York in October 2008.

The OSA Fall Vision Meeting is a small, high-quality scientific meeting focused on vision, color and noninvasive assessment techniques. It is organized in collaboration with the Optical Society of America (OSA). CRS will sponsor a lecture given by Brian Wandell who will receive the OSA Tillyer Prize on the day. AAO - American Academy of Ophthalmology
Atlanta, USA - 8th - 11th November

 

The AAO annual meeting will be held in Georgia, USA in November 2008.

Join the Academy in Atlanta for their 2008 Joint Meeting with the European Society of Ophthalmology (SOE).  The meeting will take place at the Georgia World Congress Center from Nov. 8 to 11.  It will be preceded by Subspecialty Day from Nov. 7 to 8.

ISLVRR - International Society for Low Vision Research and Rehabilitation

In 2008, the 9th International Conference on Low Vision, organized under the auspices of ISLRR, will be held from July 7 to 10 in Montréal, one of Canada 's major cities.

The society consists of people from a variety of disciplines work in the field of research and development for rehabilitation of people with vision impairment. This includes ophthalmologists, optometrists, physicists, psychologists, therapists, doctors, and clinical healthcare professionals, among others.

VSS - Vision Sciences Society

ARVO - Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology

"Eyes on Innovation" is the theme for the 2008 ARVO Annual Meeting, April 27-May 1 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

ARVO 2008 will be a major forum for vision researchers and practitioners to explore the latest innovative techniques, protocols, and tools in development and use by ophthalmic researchers whose quest is to improve patient care and vision and to cure eye diseases.

Craik Club Lecture - Four decades of spatial frequency channels: a scale-space view of spatial vision
Cambridge, UK - 16th April

On 16th April, Cambridge Research Systems are sponsoring a special meeting of the Kenneth Craik Club, which is being held in Cambridge to mark the fortieth anniversary of the classic paper by Campbell and Robson (1968).

CRS are thrilled to be sponsoring a lecture that celebrates the groundbreaking work of CRS co-founder John Robson and his colleague Fergus Campbell.

Professor Mark Georgeson of Aston University will give a lecture entitled "Four decades of spatial frequency channels:  A scale-space view of spatial vision".  The lecture will be given in the Bateman Auditorium, Gonville and Caius College, at 5.00 pm. Tea will be available from 4.40 pm and wine will be served after the lecture.

CRS to demonstrate new High Speed Video Eyetracker Toolbox and BlueGain EOG amplifier at AVA annual meeting on 1st April.

The AVA Annual Meeting 2008 and AGM will be held at the University of Manchester on Tuesday 1st April 2008 in conjunction with The University of Manchester’s Neuroscience Research Institute.

The theme adopted for this year's meeting is: "Visual Variations and Bias" but submissions on any aspect of vision research will be welcome.This year's G J Burton Memorial Lecture is sponsored by CRS and will be given by Dr. Kate Plaisted (University of Cambridge) entitled "Magnocellular processing in autism".

The Colour Group of Great Britain
9th January

The Colour Group. London, UK

The colour group will meet at the Institute of Ophthalmology, London on the 9th January for a one-day symposium on Colour Vision Meeting and the Palmer Lecture .

This year's palmer lecture during the morning session is " History and theory of the chromatic Stiles-Crawford effect" taken by Pieter Walraven. He features alongside Andrew Stockman and Li Zhaoping in the morning session.

In the afternoon Michael Webster gives the CRS sponsored lecture "Calibrating Colour Vision", followed by lectures from Annette Werner, Karoline Spang, John Barbur, Milena Vurro and J Kraft.

Scottish Vision Group Meeting
Pitlochry, Scotland 15th - 17th March

The Scottish Vision Group meeting will be held from 15th - 17th March in Pitlochry, roughly an hours drive from Dundee.

 

There are still opportunities to present during the day, if you are interested please contact the course organisers. Professor David Perrett (pictured) from St Andrews University will be the guest speaker and he will give a one hour lecture on the Saturday.

The meeting will take place at the Pitlochry Dundarach Hotel, a traditional hotel in a beautiful countryside setting. Guests to the meeting should quote "Abertay" as the reference when booking rooms.
