Colour Categorization

In the first experiment subjects were presented with a wide range of hues and asked to categorize them into 8 possible simple colours. Details and typical results are shown in figure 1. They found that when subjects were repeatedly tested, their categorization was extremely robust and consistent between testing sessions. All subjects showed distinct borders between colour categories which were reliably repeatable and independent of colour saturation.
