Light Measurement / ColorCAL MKII Colorimeter
Calibrated and affordable colorimeter performs better than a spectroradiometer for gamma correction. Computer-controlled, bus powered USB colorimeter with an easy to use cross-platform software interface, designed for characterising and calibrating your CRT or LCD monitor.
Drivers
Windows
x86 (32-bit Windows)
CRS signed USB CDC ACM driver bundle. To install, make sure the ColorCAL MKII device is not attached to the computer. Extract the archive, then right-click on the INF and choose the Install option. Reattach the ColorCAL MKII to load the driver. Creates a virtual serial (COM) port:
ColorCAL MKII - USB CDC Interface
Konica Minolta USB driver bundle to provide compatiblity with VSG Software v6 or later, the deprecated CRS LightScan v2.x utility, LightScan WIN32 API, and the colorCAL series of functions in the CRS Toolbox for MATLAB:
ColorCAL MKII - Konica Minolta "Legacy Mode"
ColorCAL - Konica Minolta mode (this bundle is only for use with the beige coloured Konica-Minolta made device - this has a suction cup to attach the device to a CRT).
x64 (64-bit Windows)
CRS signed USB CDC ACM driver bundle. To install, make sure the ColorCAL MKII device is not attached to the computer. Extract the archive, then right-click on the INF and choose the Install option. Reattach the ColorCAL MKII to load the driver. Creates a virtual serial (COM) port:
ColorCAL MKII - USB CDC Interface
Mac OS X
No driver is required. The device will create a virtual serial port in /dev/ (look for tty.usbmodem000x).
Important: If you want to use the native Psychtoolbox-3 ColorCal2 function to control the device from MATLAB on OS X, the virtual serial port interface needs to be unloaded before the ColorCal2 function will work. To unload, use Terminal to issue the command:
sudo kextunload -b com.apple.driver.AppleUSBCDC
GNU/linux
No driver is required. The device will create a virtual serial port in /dev/ (look for tty.acm000x).
Software
Example Code
MATLAB example
A cross-platform example to show how to use the ColorCAL MKII USB CDC virtual serial port interface:
Self-contained MATLAB example for ColorCAL MKII in USB CDC mode
Python library
Grab the code from our pycrsltd github repository. The cross-platform library shows how to use the USB CDC virtual serial port interface. Works great with PsychoPy.
Applications
Windows
LightScan v3.01 provides support for OptiCAL, ColorCAL and ColorCAL MKII on 32-bit and 64-bit editions of Windows. If you are using 32-bit editions of Windows and have a ColorCAL or ColorCAL MKII, you must use the KM Legacy Mode driver (see above for x86 32-bit Windows drivers). 64-bit editions of Windows are only compatible with the current ColorCAL MKII device when the USB CDC ACM driver is loaded. The LightScan v3 installation utility will detect which version of Windows is installed on the host computer and will only install the appropriate software and drivers for that platform.
If you want to continue using the deprecated 32-bit only LightScan v2 release on 32-bit Windows, please use version of the utility:
