BOLDscreen 32 AVI

BOLDscreen 32 AVI (audio-video-input) makes it easy to connect multiple computers or other video sources to your BOLDscreen 32 display. It allows easy switching between different input sources and provides an auxiliary output to drive a second monitor so that you can monitor the image shown to the patient from the control room.

The BOLDscreen 32 AVI is a separate unit, situated in the control room. (NB It must NOT be taken into the magnet room.)

Input options

The AVI can rescale many input resolutions and produce an appropriate output for the BOLDscreen 32.

For example:

  • Computers or laptops with HDMI or DisplayPort output (or USB C with a suitable adapter).
  • iPad or tablet with HDMI output.
  • A Blu-ray Disc player or DVD player with HDMI output.
  • A streaming media device with HDMI output.

You can connect several input devices, and switch between them with a button press.

Control room clone monitor

A second monitor can be connected to monitor the BOLDscreen 32 image from the control room. The rear of the AVI has a clone HDMI output for this purpose. This clone output is identical to the main output and produces video at 1920x1080 @ 120Hz. We have tested the clone output with 24” ViewSonic XG2401 and XG2402 LCD monitors – other desktop LCD monitors should work too if they can support 1920x1080 @ 120Hz via HDMI 2.0, or DisplayPort using an HDMI 2.0 to DisplayPort cable.

Mirror mode

The mirror mode button provides fast, remote control of the BOLDscreen 32 Mirror Mode feature. This instructs the monitor to left/right flip the video so it appears correct when your subject is viewing the display via a mirror.

Audio output

The BOLDscreen 32 AVI appears as a video and audio device to the connected source. The audio stream from the active input device can be routed through the AVI to the BOLDfonic amplifier, or a third party audio system. This makes routing of video and audio signals very simple: only one cable is required from each signal source as DisplayPort and HDMI can carry both signals. The AVI enclosure stacks neatly with the BOLDfonic amplifier, which saves desk space in the control room.

System features

BOLDscreen 32 AVI front and rear panels

  • 1920x1080 @ 120Hz output, via fibre connection appropriate for connecting directly to BOLDscreen 32.

  • S/PDIF audio output for connection to MRI audio systems.
  • Four HDMI inputs.
  • One DisplayPort input.
  • All inputs accept resolutions of 640x480 up to 1920x1080 at frame rates between 50 and 120Hz.
  • One input source can be shown on the BOLDscreen 32 at any one time.
  • Remote control of BOLDscreen 32 mirror-mode and low-power features.

MR UnsafeThe BOLDscreen32 AVI is categorised as MR unsafe. It must be situated outside of the magnet room.
